Procom Communication Services

Systems Installed by Procom

Channel Tunnel Rail Link

During the construction of the 110 km £5 Billion high speed rail link from the Channel Tunnel to St Pancras in London, Procom provided a sophisticated radio system for the construction contractors.  On each of the two phases a multi-site system was installed giving communications for the control of trains and track work throughout the length of the track both over-ground and throughout 25km of tunnels.

River Crossing

The two tunnels and the bridge at the Dartford River Crossing have a two-channel quasi-sync system, providing radio coverage throughout the tunnels, bridge and approaches to handportables and vehicle sets.  All communications are recorded on a voice recorder.

A Bus Company

The company provides bus tours of London and they have a five channel trunk system providing voice communication to ground staff with handportables and voice and data to buses with an AVL system to display the up to date bus positions on various routes around London.

Process Industry

The company has a very large complex with a number of process plants operating 24 hours per day.  For general operations and emergencies a five-channel trunk system is provided which enables handportable communication throughout the site, man down reporting and machine failure/fire alarms reporting. Telephone connection to the internal system and the PSTN is available on each channel.
The site is designated as an ATEX area and requires all mobile equipment to meet the ATEX intrinsically safe standard Ex11 2G EEx ib 11C T4.

Local Authority

The local authority required coverage to handportables over the whole area of their responsibility, which involved difficult terrain for radio coverage. A three site base station infrastructure was installed provided with voting equipment to select the best receiving site signal for re-broadcast over the whole area.
